William B. Gripe

William B. Gripe Resident of Concord William Bruce Gripe, age 84, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Monday, November 1, 2010. Bill was born April 28, 1926 in Guadalupe, CA, the son of Charles and Lula Gripe. The 55 year resident of Concord was a 1951 Graduate of Oklahoma A&M College, with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, before beginning his 40 year career with AMOT Controls of Richmond, retiring in 1991 as Chief Engineer. He was also a longtime active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor, and "he never met a stranger". His hobbies included fishing, clock collecting, and clock repair. Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Geraldine; his beloved children Alicia Jean Mounsey (Robert) of Daphne, AL, Mickie Vera of Brentwood, CA, Leslie Anne Rosendahl (Keith) of Meadow Vista, CA, Tim V. Gripe (Robin) of Clayton, Thomas W. Gripe of Concord, and Susan Elizabeth Silkitis (Russell) of Concord; 15 cherished grandchildren; and 11 adored great-grand-children. He was prede-ceased by his son William Buddy Gripe in 1962, and by his sister Lois Swafford. A Memorial Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 860 Oak Grove Road, Concord. Inurnment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice of the East Bay, 365 Lennon Lane, Suite #140, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.
