Verneda Marie Beaman Oct. 23, 1928 ~ Oct. 1, 2010 Former Martinez Resident Verneda was born in Grainfield, Kansas to Delore and Ruby Ribordy. She had a happy and boisterous upbringing on a farm with three sisters and a brother. She met the love of her life, Russell Beaman, as he was returning home from the war. They were married after a two week courtship and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. During her long and happy marriage to Russell, Verneda worked 28 years for Montgomery Ward, raised two children and traveled extensively. Verneda and Russell lived in Martinez for 50 years before moving to Brentwood. Verneda enjoyed many things, including travel, pickle ball, bocce ball, golf, water skiing, roller skating, biking, sewing, and cake decorating. Her favorite thing, though, was laughing and making others laugh with her. She is survived by her husband, Russell; her daughter Diane Phelps (Patrick) and son Steven Beaman (Bennie). She also leaves behind four grandsons Matthew Phelps, Brian Phelps, Trevor Cook and Urian Beaman; and three great-grand-children Ian, Dylan and Edith. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Trent Cook. There will be no services, but donations to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871 or ahaf.org would be appreciated by Verneda's family.
