Robert Meyer Obituary

Robert McClean Meyer Oct. 25, 1962 ~ March 10, 2011 Resident of Danville Rob passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 10, after a five year struggle with neuro-endo-crine cancer. He was born on October 25, 1962, in Maplewood, Minnesota and moved to the Bay Area in 1986 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He began his career with Pacific Gas and Electric and eventually pursued employment as a financial consultant at Morgan Stanley in Walnut Creek. Rob is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; and his caring foster daughter, Jessica Pimentel. He will also be greatly missed by his cherished sister, Jeanne Shaw (Rick); devoted brother Walter Meyer (Teddi) and his nieces, Stefany and Elizabeth. Rob had many interests and pursued them with passion. He was a downhill Skier, runner and a sailboarder. He was also active in his church, enjoyed woodworking and was an accomplished gourmet cook and pastry chef. The week prior to his death found him whale watching and snorkeling in beautiful Hawaii. All those who shared in Rob's life also share in his loss. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jewel Johl and the staff of Diablo Valley Oncology, Dr. Elizabeth Bergslund and Dr. Nicholas Fidelman of the UCSF Medical Center, and finally Hospice of the East Bay for their excellent and compassionate care. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2:00pm at the San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church, 902 Danville Blvd in Alamo, CA. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Habitat for Humanity - East Bay or Hospice of the East Bay
