Robert Lockhart, a Rossmoor resident, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Walnut Creek at the age of 98, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in San Jose but grew up in Modesto and attended elementary school there where his mother was the teacher and principal. Bob received his B.A. from Pomona College in music and his first position was band director and music teacher at Mt. Diablo High School in 1934. He subsequently received a Masters degree in education at U.C. Berkeley. Bob retired in 1970 after being principal of James Marshall High School in West Sacramento for 15 years. He and his wife Peggy enjoyed many happy years of traveling in their motor home throughout Mexico, Canada and the U.S. They have been members of the Methodist Church for many years. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy of 60 years, a son and daughter, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Private family services and interment will be held.
