Phyllis Marie Lyons Resident of Walnut Creek Phyllis Marie Lyons, 89, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at John Muir Hospital, in Walnut Creek, CA, following a short illness. Phyllis was born on August 4, 1921 in Carson City, MI to Leona and Albin Rademacher. Working as a registered nurse, Phyllis dedicated her entire working life to the medical care field. Over the course of her career, she held several different positions, including head administrator for medical care facilities in Alma and Mt. Pleasant, MI, Director of the Licensed Practical Nursing school at the Gratiot Community Hospital, and member of the Gratiot County Mental Health Board. A devout Roman Catholic, Phyllis was an active, life-long volunteer in all of the dioceses in which she lived, including the dioceses of Sagniaw, MI, San Antonio, TX, Venice, FL, and Oakland, CA. In recent years she devoted her time to Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa County, ministering to the area's homeless population. She is survived by sons Daniel of Sugar Land, TX; Kevin of Rockford, MI; and John of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; daughter Phylisanne of Walnut Creek CA; five grandchildren, and three great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband John (Jack); her son Michael; and by all of her eight siblings brothers Jack, Richard, Frank, Robert, and Paul; step-brothers Michael and Paul Corgan; and sister Mayrose Heffernan. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 17 at 11:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Walnut Creek, CA. A Rosary Service will take place on Thursday, December 16 at 7:00pm at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Alma, MI.
