Born Jan. 2, 1929 to parents, Pierre E. Baffert and Emma Gamble Baffert. Phil was promoted to Heaven on Oct. 22, 2016. He grew up in Nogales, AZ and graduated from Nogales High School. He received a Bachelor of Business from Woodbury College in Los Angeles, CA. Later he served as a Reserve Commissioned Officer, First Lieutenant, in the U.S. Army. It was in Los Angeles where he met his wife, Elaine Millett Baffert. Together they made a wonderful life in Nogales, Arizona and then in Alamo, CA where Phil retired from Pacific Motor Trucking Company and ABL Trans as Vice President. In Nogales, he served as Santa Cruz County Supervisor for 8 years as well as belonging to other civic organizations. His hobbies were training race horses and showing champion Beagles. He is survived by Elaine, wife of 65 years. He is the father of John Baffert (Helen), Lynda Radus, Debbie Escobedo, Emily Hummel (Dennis), Bret Baffert (Sandra), and Suzanne Baffert. Grandfather of 15 grandchildren and great-grandfather of ten. He is preceded in death by brothers Pierre S. Baffert and William G. Baffert.
