Nancy Elizabeth Wood

Nancy Elizabeth Wood July 14, 1935 - Dec. 6, 2010 Resident of Alamo Nancy Wood passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2010 after a hard fought battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Oak Park, IL, she graduated from UConn where she was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Here she met her husband, Grant Wood. Family gatherings and traditions were dear to her heart. Nancy was happiest when she was with family, especially her grandkids. She regularly attended their sporting and music events. One of her great adventures was building a second home in Victor, ID with Grant. Recent summers there were spent golfing, fishing, entertaining friends, and enjoying nature. She was a talented pianist who also enjoyed reading, traveling, crosswords, knitting, sewing, gardening, and baking. An avid golfer, she was proud to have been captain of her golf group at Round Hill Country Club. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Grant; sister Donna Johnson of Wheaton, IL; children Kathy Farwell (Dan), Mike Wood (Lesha), Leslie Atwater (Steve); grandkids Thomas, Jenna, Brittney, Ryan, David, Elisabeth and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Nancy's life on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, 2:00pm at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Drive, Lafayette.
