Lynette Reardon Obituary

Lynette Louise Reardon
Aug 7,1947-Nov 8, 2012
Resident of Danville

Lynne (Lee) Reardon passed away at home on Thursday with her family by her side after a courageous battle against cancer.
Born to David and Margaret Lee in Richmond in 1947, Lynne was a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County. After a couple of moves, the family settled in Walnut Creek where at the age of 14 she met her future Husband, Larry.
Lynne graduated from Las Lomas High School in 1965, completed her Associate of Arts degree at Diablo Valley College, and then continued her studies at San Francisco State. On June 5, 1971, Larry and Lynne married and started their new life together.
Lynne was a secretary by trade. She began her career in 1967 at an architectural firm in Concord. In 1971, she became the secretary to Arlene Pearson, the Director of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Food Service Office. Two weeks before her first child was born, she retired and became a homemaker.
Lynne dedicated her life to taking care of her husband of 41 years, her three children, their respective spouses, and two grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. She worked tirelessly to support her children in all of their endeavors. She was active in the schools where she served as President of the PTA (4 times) and as the Treasurer of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation. She worked relentlessly, behind the scenes, on fundraisers and School Bond Measures to ensure the children of this area had the resources they needed. She served as a team mom and chaperone on innumerable trips and drove more carpools, brought more snacks, and hosted more team parties than we can count.
Aside from taking care of her kids, Lynne was a tremendous gardener and cook who loved to entertain family and friends. Her specialty was her delicious homemade jam, which she included in holiday gift baskets for over 20 years. Lynne was also passionate about animals and she took incredible care of the many dogs, cats, goats, chickens, pheasants, rabbits and ducks that she welcomed into our household through the years. Over the past 15 years, she and Larry were also fortunate to travel the world. But, near the end of every trip, she was always ready to come home to her family.
Everyone who knew Lynne can attest to the fact that she was one of the most thoughtful, loving, genuine, honest, loyal, patient, polite, compassionate, and generous people we have ever known. She also had a fiery spirit, a quick wit and a toughness that transcended her petite persona. In sum, her children and grandchildren have lost the best mother, grandmother, friend and advocate we may ever know. Larry has lost his Little Red-Haired Girl (Charlie Brown's unseen love interest in the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz) and we are all lost without her.
Lynne is survived by her husband of 41 years, Larry Reardon and their 3 children, Steven Reardon (Sarah) of Danville, CA, Samantha Reardon Carter (Tim) of San Francisco, CA, and Michael Reardon (Lindsey) of Danville, CA. She is also survived by her granddaughters Hannah and Kaitlyn, her sister Roxanne Christiansen, and her sister-in-law Susan Potter (John).
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Isidore's Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA 94526 on Friday, November 16 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Food Bank of Contra Costa, P.O. Box 6324, Concord, CA 94524.
