Kathy Ann Freeman Dec. 15, 1953 - Sept. 30, 2010 Resident of Dublin Kathy Ann (Sorensen) Freeman passed away on September 30, 2010 at her home in Dublin, CA after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 56 years old. Born in Oakland, CA, Kathy grew up in Castro Valley, and lived in Dublin for over 25 years. She was a loving wife to her husband of 23 years, Ricky; a wonderful mother to her sons Nick (daughter-in-law Laurie), Tim and Brian Berry and Robert Freeman; and a proud grandma of Jacob Fleming and Garrett Berry. She is survived by her mother, Ann Sorensen and her sisters Karen Sorensen and Janet Pfeifer (Rick). Her father, Ronald F. Sorensen, her brother, Christian E. Sorensen, and her former husband Steven A. Berry preceded her in death. Since 1994, Kathy was employed by Carl Zeiss Meditec in Dublin, CA, as a Customer Support Manager. Kathy enjoyed cooking, gardening and being outside in her yard where she and Ricky hosted many family gatherings, and camping with her family and friends. She was active with the Ride For Kids organization for Pediatric Brain Tumor Treatment and Research and she and Ricky volunteered at many fundraising events. Friends and family are invited to remember and celebrate Kathy's life at a memorial reception on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Oak Hill Park Community Ctr, 3005 Stone Valley Rd, Danville, CA. A short program of remembrances will be held at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, 302 Ridgefield Ct., Asheville, NC 28806; Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245; or to a charitable organization of your choosing.
