Juanita Grobbel Obituary

Juanita Grobbel December 7, 1931 ~ December 18, 2010 Resident of Oakley Juanita Grobbel passed away peacefully on December 18, 2010, after a long, hard fought battle with diabetes and cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 7, 1931 in Detroit, MI, and was raised by loving, nurturing parents. She had 5 brothers and one sister, who have all preceded her in death. While in grade school, Juanita met and became best friends with Gladys, who introduced Juanita to Gladys' brother, George. Juanita and George started dating, fell in love, and after George got out of the Army, they were married, and proceeded to have 9 children, 21 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Sadly, 5 years ago, after 56 years of marriage, Juanita lost her beloved George to cancer, but Juanita continued to embrace life with the help of her doting children. Her children meant the world to her. She would have done anything for any one of them at any time, and would never tolerate anyone saying something bad about her kids. Juanita adored her family get-togethers, crying over old black and white movies, singing along with a record or tape, and reading good books. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a hearty, contagious laugh. You liked Juanita the very first time you met her. She was everybody's friend. She is gone now, but will never be forgotten. Her legacy will live on forever in all those who knew and loved her. We miss you already, but will cherish your memory eternally in our hearts. Juanita is survived by her loving children, George, Jr., Patricia, Phillip, Theresa, James, Paul, John, Kathleen, and Genevieve; and also 21 grandchildren, and 14 great-granchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Juanita at St. Mary Church, 2039 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Walnut Creek, 94596 on Tuesday December 21, 2010 at 10am. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Lafayette.
