Juanita Marie Garibay passed away on Saturday after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Pittsburg, CA and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1965. She married Victor Garibay of Pittsburg, CA and raised three sons together. On December 26th, they would have been married 47 years. Juanita graduated from Los Medanos College, where she was Student Body President and President of La Raza Club. She continued her college education at San Francisco State. She worked in the insurance industry for over twenty years and retired from Nationwide Insurance in 1997. She enjoyed working in her garden, shopping, and traveling.
Juanita is survived by her loving husband Victor; devoted children Victor Garibay of Placerville, David Garibay of Reno, NV, Albert Garibay of Antioch, and grandchildren Reyna Hernandez of Antioch, Brenda Lina Garibay of Brentwood, and two great grandchildren, Heaven Mijares and Alexander Hernandez, Jr. of Antioch. She is also survived by her mother, Annie Amos of Pittsburg, and three sisters Loni Galusha of Antioch, Charlotte Zamora of Pittsburg, Yvonne Campbell of Concord, and many nieces and nephews. Juanita was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Amos, her sister Diana Correa, and her father Richard Amos. Her loving and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thurs, Dec. 20, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. and a funeral service on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel, 2295 Railroad Ave. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
