Born in Jeanerette, LA on Feb. 20, 1921-Departed to join the Lord on November 10, 2012 in Danville, CA. Resident of Danville since 1947. A retired hero - U.S. Army Private 1st Class with the 15th Infantry, 3rd Division - Joseph served in WWII on the front lines as a sharp shooter & was a POW in Germany before being rescued in 1945. He was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart. After the war, Joseph worked as an overhead crane operator for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 44yrs & received an award for 44yrs of injury free service. Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife, Verna and children, Domen, Jetta B and Joseph Jr. Joseph leaves behind his devoted son, Stephen (Tracy), grandson, Steven (Kimberley), great-granddaughter, Kayla, & numerous family members & friends. Joseph loved spending time with his family, attending service at St. Isidore's Church, gardening & dancing. The service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, CA. The viewing begins at 10:00am, funeral service, officiated by Reverend Moran, begins at 11:00am. The burial will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Joseph to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
