John Catlin Teel Nov. 23, 1926 ~ Sept. 15, 2010 Resident of Concord John was born to Harry Teel and Elsie Mae Catlin in Altoona, KS. At 12 years of age he ran away from home and joined the circus. He later joined the Navy when WWII started where he served in the Pacific Theater. In 1948 he married Cecilia Nallon. They had two sons; John and Mike. After the war he moved to California where he served for 26 years as a Police Officer at U.C. Berkeley. He was known on Campus as a "Living Legend". He later met Lucy Martin and they were married in 1974. Lucy lovingly called him her Diamond-in-the-Rough. They resided in Kensington for several years before moving to Concord in 1990. Treasured by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son Mike Teel; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Mike Hitchcock; and Greg Martin; grandchildren Dries, Joey and Jessica Teel, Jeanine Maltbie, Jeff Hitchcock, Dawn Hyatt and Kelly Johnson; and ten great-grand-children. Please join us for a celebration of his life at 12:30 on October 17, 2010 at Live Oak Clubhouse, 5051 Seminole Circle, Concord, CA 94521.
