James Rulon Dixon Former Resident of Moraga James Rulon Dixon born June 22, 1929 in Provo, UT died November 1, 2010 in Provo, UT. His parents, Rulon S. Dixon and Erma Murdock Dixon preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Su Zanne Eyring; his children Mark E. Dixon of San Francisco, CA and daughter Diane Dixon Eyre of Orem, UT. His grandson, Connor G. Eyre also survives. His brothers Joseph M. Dixon of Ogden, G. Michael of Bethesda, MD and Peter M. Dixon of Salt Lake survive their eldest brother, as well as 5 nieces and nephews. Dixon was an alumnus of East High School (1946), the University of Utah (1952) and the Harvard Business School (1956). He honorably served his country (1952-54) at Ft. Ord, CA during the Korean conflict. He served an L.D.S. mission (1948-50) in New York where he was adopted into the Iroquois Tribe. This event fostered a lifelong interest in the cultural life of Native American peoples. He served as Branch President in Louisville, KY and in the Mission Presidency of the Louisville, KY Mission. In 1970 he secured sponsorship funding from Louisville's business community to finance the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's first performance in Kentucky. In later life, he funded business and education scholarships at Brigham Young University. His successful career at the Standard Oil Companies of California and Kentucky (Chevron Corporation 1956-91) included service in San Francisco, New Orleans and Louisville, KY. In his capacity as Vice President of Finance he oversaw financial operations with Chevron affiliate companies in Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City, Sao Paulo; San Jose, Costa Rica; Madras, India, London and Paris. For the past 10 years of retirement James and Su Zanne maintained homes in Orem and Moraga, CA; their son-in-law Nick G. Eyre oversaw his business interests in Utah County. Jim's wit, charm, humor and insights will be missed by family, friends and former colleagues, from all walks of life, in many communities worldwide. He lived the principals of his faith. Godspeed, fare thee well for a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Thomas W. Smith and James R. Dixon Management Scholarship at Brigham Young University, may be made. Graveside services were held November 6, 2010.
