Harry Yoshikazu Takahashi Resident of Pacheco Harry passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek on November 21, 2010 at the age of 89 succumbing to a lengthy fight with cancer. Harry was born on January 28, 1921, in Oakland, California and a long time resident of Berkeley, California, the son of the late Taneno Ogihara Takahashi and Yoshihiko Takahashi. He is survived by his beloved companion of 35 years Fern Briseno and her daughter Michelle Lunsford (Ron). Yoshiko Katayanagi Takaha-shi mother of children Ron (Penny) of Fountain Valley, CA, Laird (Barb) of Seattle, WA, Robin (Jeff) of Orinda, CA and Rick of Alameda, CA. He had twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Brother of Michio James Takahashi of Richmond, CA and the late Sachiko Shibata and Mitsuko Yamamoto. Harry was very active in Lions Club, Berkeley JACL, Sycamore Church of El Cerrito and a founding father of the East Bay Youth Athletic League. He graduated from Oakland Technical High School. After returning from Topaz in the late 1940's he owned and operated several dry cleaners in Berkeley. His interests included bowling, golfing, fishing, playing the harmonica, singing shigin, traditional Japanese folk songs and watching baseball and basketball games. Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service at Sycamore Congregational Church, 1111 Navellier St, El Cerrito on Saturday December 4, 2010 at 6:00pm.
