Harry G. Kicherer Rossmoor Resident Harry G. Kicherer, age 86, entered peacefully, into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, March 4, 2011 following a brief illness. Harry was born May 23, 1924 in Oakland, CA, a son of Harry and Norma Kicherer. He has resided in Contra Costa County for 35 years, the last 15 of those years at Rossmoor of Walnut Creek. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII, and retired from the Oakland Fire Department after 35 years as a firefighter. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, playing the organ, and loved baseball. He was a very warm and generous man with his time and finances. He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife Shirlie. They were married nearly 65 years. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Shirlie of Walnut Creek; sons Steve Kicherer (Valerie) of Alamo and James Kicherer (Sharon) of Martinez; five cherished grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Adam, Michelle, and David; and one adored great-grandchild, Kai. A Memorial Celebration of Harry's life will be held at 11:00am Saturday, March 26, 2011 at New Life Church of Alamo, 2501 Danville Blvd., Alamo, CA 94507. Private inurnment will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
