Frank Thomas Obituary


 

Frank James Thomas Former Resident of Orinda Frank was born to Frank and Clara Thomas in San Francisco on May 2, 1920 and died peacefully in the presence of family on October 4, 2010. Frank served in the army as a Lieutenant Colonel from 1942-46 and in the reserves from 1946-1962. During WWII, Frank met and married his wife, Becky. The couple returned to California and raised their family in Orinda. Frank graduated from UC Berkeley after the war and worked as an executive in the insurance industry. He was a member of the Moraga Presbyterian Church before moving to Paradise Valley Estates in Fairfield. Frank's hobbies included volleyball, reading, bridge and fine dining. Although kidded about his giant sized feet, meticulous techniques for disposing garden waste and neatness, Frank was well respected and admired by friends and family for his excellent memory, sense of direction, as a graceful dancer and true gentleman. Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Frances R."Becky" Thomas of Fairfield, CA, sister Dorothy Drago of Santa Rosa, Ca, daughter Carol Nielsen of San Ramon, Ca, daughter Dorothy Cartwright of Castro Valley, Ca, son Dr. Frank James Thomas, Jr. of Sammamish, Wa, daughter Chrissy Brewer of Pleasant Hill, Ca as well as 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous friends. Services to be announced.
