Evalyn "Ev" Hora 1926 ~ 2010 Pleasant Hill Resident The dictionary defines the word "Lady" as a woman of refinement with polite and gentle manners. We define the word 'Lady' as our beautiful Evalyn Rosa Lee Hora; known to us all as 'Ev', 'Granny', 'Auntie Ev', and 'Auntie Em'. With heavy hearts we notify you that our beautiful 'Lady' Evalyn Rosa Lee Hora, passed away peacefully, at her home of 51 years, on November 29, 2010, in Pleasant Hill, California. Ev was born on June 25, 1926 in Pittsburg, California. She owned and operated her own 'Mom and Pop' grocery store and met some interesting people during her time there. It was during that time that she met the "Love of her Life", Milosh Hora. They fell in love and were married on April 9, 1955, spending 55 wonderful years together. Ev was one of 5 children born to the late Rebecca Bingaman. Ev will be forever missed by her devoted sisters: Barbara Jean Hewitt, Marie Enos, Dee Dee Grimes and Paula Parini (deceased). Ev's life stories of growing up with her family, secrets told and laughter, although now silent, can still be heard in our hearts and minds. Her loving children: Dan Hora, Dennis Hora and Denise Berger all grieve the loss of their mom, friend and confidant. Ev was such a loving and caring mother, always there to offer advice, a gentle touch or a compassionate ear. Her treasured grandchildren: Sean Hora, Denise Neil, Eve Fish, Shani Duncan, Jennifer Lentz, Nic Berger, Jaesun Hora and Eric Hora will miss sharing family traditions and learning from her the meaning of a long line of love. The family's long line of love is continued with 13 great grandchildren. Ev sewed with love in every stitch, a Raggedy Ann or Andy doll upon every family birth. Along with countless friends and family whom all were blessed to know her, Mary Ingersoll, Joe Berger and Linda Hora will miss the friendly talks over morning coffee or a glass of wine with our beautiful 'Lady'. Her smile and soft touch will forever be close to our hearts. Ev will be remembered for her love of music by Frank Sinatra, "ol' blue eyes", her fondness of Hawaii, how her eyes would sparkle when she said, "you haven't lived until you have seen Waikiki Beach", making miniature shadow box themes/ doll houses, very detailed and intricate, for being very patriotic and her love for the 4th of July with decorations right down to the plates. She always said she was born with an American flag in her hand! The love she shared with Moe in Yosemite National Park, calling Rocky Point Beach her "healing place". It was a great time had by all, as friends and family would gather to get caught up on family happenings and new additions to the "Hora Clan". One year we were 90 members strong plus 13 dogs! We came from near and far to be with our beautiful 'Lady' and the love of her life, Moe. Ev touched the lives of so many people with her kind words, generous heart and kind nature. We have all been blessed to have known her. Family and friends are invited to come near and far to gather once again, to honor, support, share stories and be with our wonderful lady Ev and her loving husband, Moe on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at The Gardens at Heather Farms, 1540 Marchbanks Drive, Walnut Creek, CA.
