Eugene L. Bianchi Resident of Moraga Eugene Lawrence Bianchi passed away peacefully with his family at his side on October 18, 2010. He was born on July 20, 1920 in Oakland, California, graduated from Fremont High School and attended U.C. Davis. Gene served honorably in the army in WWII and after the war worked at Alameda Naval Air Station for 40 years. While his sons were in Boy Scouts, he served as the Scoutmaster of their Troop 366 in Oakland. He and his wife Muriel enjoyed their travels to Europe and Asia and visited all 50 U.S. states. He was a life member of the Sons in Retirement of Moraga and of the Elks Club where he shared his unique building talents on many of their volunteer community service projects. Gene enjoyed attending the monthly men's dinners at the Italian Ligure Club in Oakland where he looked forward to the camaraderie and the gastronomically wonderfully prepared Italian meals. He belonged to the Model A Club of America and restored several Model As, including a 1929 Tasty Pastry Model A Panel Truck which won first prize in its first showing. Throughout his life he utilized his unique gift with his hands to remodel several homes, fashioned wonderful wooden toys for his grandsons and enjoyed designing and cultivating his home garden. He liked taking long walks with his friends and looked forward to the Friday breakfast gatherings at the Ranch House in Moraga. Gene is survived by his wife, Muriel who shared sixty-nine years of marriage with him, his two sons Denis and James, four grandsons Matthew, Brian, Andrew and Marc and his daughters-in-law Susannah and Diane. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 3:00pm at the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church in the small chapel.
