Eileen Lawrence Obituary

Eileen M. Lawrence Sept. 16, 1922~March 11, 2011 Eileen Lawrence, longtime resident of Walnut Creek, passed away peacefully on March 11th. She began her career in the Kaiser shipyards, when the hospital first began in the late 1930s. Operating the switchboard, she quickly rose in the ranks becoming Communications Supervisor, a title she held until her retirement. While employed with Kaiser, she transformed the switchboard plug-in method into the new computerized system for the Walnut Creek, Shadelands and Pleasanton facilities. Her ability to communicate effectively was a skill she mastered at home as well. Raising six children alongside her true love, George Lawrence, she effortlessly introduced details into bedtime stories that could capture any audience and hold their interest until the very last word. She was a published poet and scholar in English, with a deep love for politics, current events and her Catholic faith. Her unparalleled devotion to her family, her generosity to everyone she came in contact with and her spirited personality will never be forgotten. Among the many lives she touched, her family will cherish the intimate moments known only to those lucky enough to be part of the Lawrence legacy. Beginning with her six children, Dennis Lawrence, David Lawrence, Deborah Tycer, George Lawrence, Frank Lawrence and Lori Wolford, followed by her 16 grandchildren, Steven, Trey, Robbie, Michael, Paul, Gina, Lisa, Taylor, Mike, Luis, Jennifer, Georgia, Amy, Chris, Julie and Gary and continuing with her 12 great-grandchildren. Services begin Thursday March 17th at 7pm with a Rosary at Hull's Chapel in Walnut Creek and resume the following day, Friday, March 18th at 1pm for her Funeral at St. Mary's Church in Walnut Creek.
