Dorothy Ann Gibson Former Concord Resident Dorothy Ann Gibson, 87, of Greenwood, Indiana, better known as "Dottie" or "Mrs. G.", beloved wife of Captain Erwin "Rocky" Gibson (deceased), married for 56 years, passed away on December 6, 2010. She was born in Beech Grove, Indiana to Carl and Carrie Peterman on August 26, 1923. Graduated from Manual High School. Worked for RCA and Mayflower Van Lines during WWII. Active in USO. Worked as a legal secretary for Kroger, Gardis & Regas and also for the BMV for the state of Indiana. Married and moved to California where she was active as an adult secretary to Jobs Daughters Bethel 266 of Concord. Leader of the Muchos' Manos (Many Hands) 4H club of Contra Costa County, where she actively taught public speaking to each of the children. Her kids won many blue ribbons and gold seals for their demonstrations. Moved back to Greenwood Indiana in 1974 to care for her parents. Active with her husband in the Shrine, she was a member of the Starlight Prospect Chapter No. 452, Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included art, sewing, antiquing, and mail in contests where she won many things from money and gifts to trips. She is survived by her only child Lynn Yocum (Karl) of Greenwood; her granddaughter Lisa Wilde (Michael) of Greenwood and her great-grandson Blake Wilde of Greenwood; her grandson Carl Yocum of Pittsburg, California, her great-grandson Jason Baker of Fortville, Indiana; and her sister Ruth Ludlow and nephew Robert Ludlow of Hobe Sound, Florida. Friends and family may gather on Tuesday, December 14, from 11am until 1pm at the G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue Indianapolis. The funeral service will be held at 1pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Home of Indiana in Franklin or the Shrine Children's Hospital.
