Dorothy R. Fontaine

Dorothy R. Fontaine April 27, 1916~Oct. 26, 2010 Former Antioch Resident Dorothy peacefully slipped into Heaven Tuesday morning, October 26, 2010 after a brief illness. She was 94 years old. She was very tenderly cared for at Clovis Community Hospital, with loved ones around her in her final days. She was born Dorothy R. LaValley in the small western Massachusetts town of Coalrain. Her family then moved a short distance away to Shelbourn Falls, where in grammar school she would meet a youthful Bill Fontaine. They married on November 27, 1939. Their marriage would last 51 years, until her beloved Bill passed in 1991. In their golden years, they spent much time supporting St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Dorothy initiated the work of the Harvesters, a fund raising tradition which continues today. Dorothy and Bill had been residents of Antioch since 1980 until her beloved daughter, Marie Nafzgar, took her to Clovis, CA in 2003 to care for in her home. Dorothy leaves to lovingly cherish her memory four sons Richard, Robert, Harvey and Stephen and her daughters Annette, Therese, Marie and Patricia. Her loving son, Timmothy, passed in 2007. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grand-children. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 1pm at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
