Dean Lundberg Resident of Antioch For many, the Salt Lake region of Utah holds some great magic and inspirations. However, for the Church's prodigal son, Dean Craven Lundberg, his 73-years were spent trying to escape those high valleys and canyons to wider horizons. Life was always a race toward a brighter horizon for Dean. To know the above is to start to know Dean C. Lundberg, the man. The grand and colorful event that was his life reads more like a Tarantino script, and is much too much for this short summary. On Friday, December 10th, 2010 at 3:15 p.m., after a decade long battle with cancer he gave up the race, peacefully. His older sister Joyce passed only one day prior, as if to lay the path for him to finally follow. Dean was born to a Mormon family in the town of Murray, Utah on November 9th, 1937. Driven by country-boy recklessness he survived many near fatal events and eventually turned to and thrived in sports and musical theatre at Davis High School in Kaysville where he graduated in 1956. In his teens, Dean developed a fine, strong baritone singing voice - this voice carried him into Weber College (Utah State) sharing musical theatre productions with University of Utah and singing The Voice of Christ at the Dedication of the LDS Temple in Oakland, CA in 1964. Eventually Dean built a rich life for himself in California. He is survived by his most loyal of mates, Denise Rounsaville, her three children and many grandchildren to whom Dean was the devoted "Poppy." He also leaves behind his five children, four grandchildren, two sisters, his 'strong-willed' mother Evelyn, and a wealth of family and friends. He is well loved, fondly remembered, and will be missed more than can be described. A memorial in Dean's honor will be held at 1pm on Monday December 20th at the Pittsburg Elks Lodge, 200 Marina Blvd., Pittsburg, CA, 94565. Donations can be given to Hospice of the East Bay, www.hospicecc.org.
