Charlie Jones Obituary

Charlie Ray Jones June 28, 1923 ~ March 9, 2011 Resident of Brentwood Charlie Ray Jones went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 due to complications from pneumonia and Lewy Body Dementia. Charlie was born in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga during WWII. He retired after 40 years with USS Steel in Pittsburg. After his retirement he farmed almonds. He loved working and staying busy. Charlie traveled around the US and Hawaii and in Europe with his son Ken and his family. He was most proud of building houses in Pine Mt. Lake with his son Ron. Charlie served as a Deacon in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Oakley and most recently in the Brentwood Missionary Baptist Church in Brentwood. Charlie is survived by his wife of 67 Years, Ruby Lois (Watson) Jones; son Ken Jones (Carmen), Ron Jones (Phyllis) and daughter Elaine (Joe) Morgan. He leaves behind six Grandchildren, nine Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandchild. He is survived by his brother George Jones of Antioch. His parents Charlie and Alfred Jones preceded him in death as did one Grandchild. Friends and family are invited to a Visitation on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 5-8pm at the Brentwood Funeral Home, First Street, Brentwood. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Brentwood Missionary Baptist Church on Church Lane off Sellars Avenue in Brentwood. Burial to follow at the Brentwood Cemetery.
