Bobby Beeson Obituary

Bobby Glynell Beeson June 9, 1932 - Sept.1, 2010 Resident of Clayton Passed away peacefully on September 1, 2010, at the age of 78. A resident of Clayton, CA since 1971. Bobby was born in Louisiana and spent his childhood years there. At age 15, he came to California, and graduated from Berkeley High School at age 16. He married Shirley Curran on July 21, 1951, and together they had 3 children. Bobby proudly worked as a steamfitter for UA Local 342. In 1968 he was elected as their president, and later as business agent for several years. Upon retirement from the union, he began a second career representing union contractors as the Director of Labor Relations for RPMC, MCA and LCCNC. Well respected for being an effective negotiator, he was adept at understanding both sides of an issue. In his free time, Bobby loved golfing at Boundary Oaks. He also enjoyed bowling with his wife, playing poker with his buddies, gardening, and watching sports on TV. Bobby is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; his children Rick (Chris), Linda, and Carol (Mike); his grandchildren Mike, Roland, Matt and Caity. He is also survived by his sister Doris (Nick); many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Molly. He was predeceased by his father Rufus, his mother Mary, and his brother Mason. Burial services were private. A memorial to honor Bobby's life will be held on Sunday, October 10, 1PM, at UA Local 342 Plumbers & Steamfitters Hall, 935 Detroit Ave. Concord, CA 94518.
