Barbara Lloyd Jones Ballard Nov. 18, 1921 ~ Nov. 25, 2010 Resident of Walnut Creek Barbara Lloyd died peacefully Thanksgiving morning of complications from a tumor. She prided herself on being a good wife and mother, keeping her husband, Thomas Robert Ballard (deceased 1991), happy for 43 years. She also reared two daughters, Nan Ballard Martin of Springfield, Virginia and Maryanne Ballard Kain of Walnut Creek, CA. Her extended family was very important to her life and she loved the visits from her grandchildren Elizabeth and Drew Ford, Adam and Ashley Martin, Drew and Dianna Kain, Barbara and Ryan Sheehy and great-grandchildren, Thomas and Jack Ford, Robert, Joshua, and Julianna Sheehy. She was proud to be the matriarch and GeGe to this beloved clan. She is survived by her dear sister Marianne Tibbetts and Richard her husband of Fort Morgan, CO; cousin Larry Kittleman of Eugene, OR; her brother Dr. William Jones of Grand Junction, CO preceded her in death. Barbara was proud to be a Kappa Alpha Theta, she was a voracious reader and accomplished bridge player. She also loved flower arranging, bird watching and antiques. It was her joy weekly to volunteer at the Garret. When she lived in Grandview, WA she helped her husband run an orchard and she also worked to start the local rose garden. Barbara Lloyd was born and reared in Grand Junction, CO, graduated from Grand Junction High School, Mesa College, and Colorado College with a degree in English Literature. She kept up with dear friends from Colo, especially Anne Snyder, her friend for life. Services will be held in Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Blvd, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 at 4:00pm, Friday December 3, 2010. Remembrances may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, International Justice Mission, or Colorado College.
